Experience Berkeley
Experience Berkeley provides special opportunities for high school students of color from across the state with assistance in getting admitted to Cal and getting ready for the rigors of life away from home at a large university. These include meeting with admissions officers for individual feedback on personal statements and events where aspiring Golden Bears can meet & connect with current students, staff and faculty. It’s a great chance to become familiar with the Berkeley campus, have fun and build community with other prospective students from all around the state.
Key Results:
- Participation in Stiles Hall’s Experience Berkeley program doubles the probability of Black, Latino and Native American students getting into UC Berkeley (52% vs. 24% admission rate).
As part of the ten month program, participants will receive one on one support from a trained UC Berkeley student of color, get assistance with applying for financial Aid and scholarships and become part of the Experience Berkeley network of students, alumni and staff.
